MacBook

MacBook

Well that’s a first. Just spent the best part of the evening familiarising myself with the wonders of life in “Mac” land. I managed to borrow a MacBook from work in order to do some video editing for my studies. I have touched one before so I knew what to do (ish).

It’s amazing how your muscle memory starts to mess up your flow. Simple stuff like closing a window (probably not called windows are they). On a PC all such controls are top right, not on a Mac – top left. In fact I get the feeling that they have deliberately made them different in as many ways possible (just like ipods) so as to…. I really don’t know.

This is not really a rant as such, just a moan at myself for not getting the Mac experience sooner. Anyway, needless to say it got the job done in quicktime – ha ha! I also noticed that it is very quiet in comparison to a pc laptop. Do they not have fans??? apparently not having had a look underneath for vents. How do they do that? Very clever, might have to start saving up…

Ha! Just found the vents. Very cleverly hidden behind the hinge mechanism. Design at its most elegant.

They are wonderful computers, both software and hardware are simply the best on the market. A bit pricey, but I really believe that you get what you pay for.

Perhaps a graduation present to yourself?!

I have Windows on my Mac – but only use it in emergencies because most of the stuff is quicker in the Mac OS.
