Reflection in the work setting

Systems Model of Action-Research Process.

Two weeks in and already my critical reflection skills have been called into action. I have found myself adjusting in action more than normal perhaps. Multiple changes to adjust to will invariably require more time to get a rhythm going. Being aware of my driving values as well as an ability to unpick underlying emotions objectively has meant that I have exited the fortnight having a clear understanding of what adjustments could be made.

Cycle two next week perhaps. This will hopefully lead to more fun.

One Response to Reflection in the work setting

Inspiring to see you are continuing to use reflective practice in the longer term Julian, did cycle 2 lead to more fun? I hope the job is going well and you are also managing to implement action for improvement to benefit you and those around you. I am nearing the end of another semester of delivering RWS2, as always it is good to hear the current students feeling that their practice is being transformed. I introduced a phase of active experimentation this semester with the aim of further encouraging them to consider how they might adopt and use reflective strategies in the longer term. Do you still use an iPod to capture ‘in action’ reflections so you can reflect in detail later?
